Section 4 — What to Inspect (Walk-around Checklist)

1) Frame & Chassis

  • Frame straightness, finish, weld quality; no cracks.
  • Swingarm, steering head, bearings (visual).
  • Stands function; no wobble.

2) Suspension, Wheels & Brakes

  • Forks/shocks—no leaks, correct boots/gaiters.
  • Wheel condition, spokes true/tensioned; rotor wear even.
  • Brake lines routed properly; correct hardware style (stock classes).

3) Engine/Drivetrain & Exhaust

  • Cases, fins, covers: finish and fastener correctness; no oil/fuel leaks.
  • Carb/FI setup: period-correct for stock; clean routing for customs.
  • Chain/belt/shaft: condition and alignment; guards present if stock.
  • Exhaust: fit, finish, baffle/end-cap correctness for stock; fab quality for custom.

4) Bodywork, Paint & Chrome

  • Tank/side covers/fenders: color correctness (stock), panel alignment, graphics.
  • Seat and upholstery: material/grain/stitch (stock) or craftsmanship (custom).
  • Chrome/polish: no pits, blisters, or haze.

5) Controls, Instruments & Lighting

  • Levers/pedals: correct style/finish; free play appearance.
  • Cables/looms routed neatly and securely.
  • Gauges/indicators correct and clean; lenses clear; reflector condition.

6) Accessories & Safety Items

  • Mirrors, crash bars, racks, saddlebags—period-correct in stock classes.
  • Custom accessories judged on execution and integration.
